Northern Gastroenterology aims to provide a holistic service for patients with gastroenterological and hepatology problems. This includes consultations with expert care at clinics, endoscopy services including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bowel cancer screening and large polyp removal. We also have specialist expertise in the management of heartburn and chronic reflux disease, including non-invasive (wireless) pH monitoring .

Dr Adrian McElholm studied Medicine at Queen’s University of Belfast (QUB), graduating with Distinction in Medicine and Surgery in 1997. He achieved Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2002 and was awarded an MD for his research on Reflux Oesophagitis, Barrett’s Oesophagus and Oesophageal Cancer in 2012. He was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2013 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2014.
Dr McElholm completed specialist training in Gastroenterology in the UK, followed by Interventional Endoscopy Fellowships in the Royal Perth Hospital WA, and the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, England, being appointed a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist in Liverpool, UK, in 2012. In 2013 he moved to Perth and holds public posts in Rockingham Hospital, Fremantle Hospital and the Fiona Stanley Hospital. He also works with Wexford Gastroenterology in Murdoch.
Dr McElholm lives in the northern suburbs of Perth and wants to provide a service for the area, including clinics for general Gastroenterology and Hepatology, with ongoing care of chronic conditions, as well as endoscopic services including gastroscopy, colonoscopy and bowel cancer screening.
